Talk about "uniform swag". The SLU Lions have been the poster boys for uniform swag in the college baseball world, much like the Oregon Ducks have been with college football.

First it was the "Solid Gold" digs worn when the Lions go for a series sweep. Next we saw camouflage hats with the Southeastern "S" on the front. No big deal. Plenty schools wear camo hats these days. So fashion designer Jay Artigues threw in the camouflage jerseys with the "S" on the upper left chest, which are worn with both the white and gray pants.

Well as any great fashion designer does, Artigues pushed the uniform swag limits. Tuesday night in the Lions 7-2 win over the University of New Orleans at The Pat, Lion Nation was introduced to the Lions newest fashion statement. Camo jerseys to go along with camo pants! A combination that would make Willie, Jase, Phil and Uncle Si proud.

So in case you missed it here are some pics of the all camo unis.
SLU dropped a mid-week game at Alabama 9-1 and lost their Southland Conference series at home to Lamar. Lamar won Friday night 6-2 and Sunday 18-1, as the Lions won on Saturday 7-5. SLU is 22-11 on the season and 7-2 in the SLC. Southland Conference members Sam Houston (12), Central Arkansas (21) and Lamar (25) are all ranked in this week's poll, as well as UL-Lafayette (22).ILBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751450998250768699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210466243960914283.post-1838012594205566342013-04-08T15:55:00.000-05:002013-04-08T15:55:09.679-05:00Week in Review - 2013 Week EightThe SLU Lions finished the week 1-3 dropping their overall record to 22-11. The Lions lost at Alabama 9-1 on Tuesday night and their game with South Alabama on Wednesday night was postponed due to rain in the Mobile area. Lamar came into the The Pat and took the Southland Conference series winning 6-2 on Friday and run ruling the Lions on Sunday 18-1 in seven innings. SLU won Saturday's game 7-5. In the SLC standings the Lions (7-2) are tied for first place with Sam Houston. Sitting one game back in second are Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin. The Lions will look to bounce back this week hosting Jackson State on Tuesday night and traveling to Tulsa, OK to face Oral Roberts in a SLC series this weekend.
4/7/13 Lamar - L 18-1

Notes:
By dropping their series with Lamar the Lions lost their first weekend series of the season. It also was the first time this season the Lions did not sweep at home.

The 18-1 defeat at the hands of Lamar on Sunday was the Lions worst defeat in the last five seasons. The 18 runs Lamar scored was the most runs the Lions have surrendered since losing 19-9 at Northwestern State during the 2009 season.

The Lions find themselves in a unfamiliar spot in the SLC statistical rankings...after eight weeks of play SLU is ranked 5th in hit by pitches with 35. They trail Northwestern State by 12 for 4th. Central Arkansas leads the conference with 74. Over the last five seasons, not only have they the lead the conference, but the Lions have ranked in the top 10 in the country in hit by pitches averaging 104 per season. Currently SLU is on pace to finish the 2013 season with only 59 hit by pitches, which would be the lowest total in the Jay Artigues era.
