SLU High School Prospect Camp Set for October 28th

The SLU Lions baseball coaching staff will be hosting a High School Prospect camp on Sunday October 28th at The Pat in Hammond, LA.  The camp will run from noon to 5:30pm and is open to grades 9-12.  The cost of the camp is $100 if you register before October 23rd.  It will be $120 after October 23rd.

This camp is designed for the high school athlete who is interested in playing baseball on the collegiate level.  It is great for juniors and seniors, as colleges are trying to finalize their current recruiting class and get a head start on next year's class.  Several college coaches and some MLB scouts have been invited to this pro style workout.

Lions Staff to Host Collegiate Instructional School

Coach Jay Artigues and his staff will be hosting the Collegiate Instructional School at The Pat in Hammond, LA on Monday nights (September 17th & 24th and October 1st & 8th) with each session starting at 5pm or 7pm.  The Instructional School is designed for grades 8-12 and will be limited to first 40 players to register.  The cost of the camp is $160.

Each session will be run like a SLU practice and will be a highly intense workout with individual and team instruction.  The school will cover all major aspects of the game including hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running.  The Instructional School will give each player a chance to workout in a Division I college practice setting, work with one of the top mid-major coaching staffs in the country, and get great recruiting exposure to the Lions coaching staff.

Perfect Game Names Perna One of Futures League's Top Prospects

Perfect Game recently named SLU's Vito Perna as the 18th ranked prospect in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League's top prospects for his performance this past summer.  Perna, playing for the Brockton Rox in Brockton, MA, finished the summer with a 3.10 ERA to go along with a 1-3 record. He recorded two saves and fanned 46 batters over 40.2 innings pitched.  Pulling double duty as a 3B the junior to be hit .320 with five doubles, three HR's, and 23 RBI's in 147 at-bats.
