Since Southeastern begin playing baseball in 1947 the baseball program has placed over 50 former Lions in the professional ranks, with six reaching the Major Leagues (1939 Jim Carlin - Philadelphia Phillies, 1991 Kevin Morgan - Detroit Tigers, 1992 Kirk Bullinger - St. Louis Cardinals, 1993 Carl Schutz - Atlanta Braves, 1996 Jeff Williams - Los Angeles Dodgers, 2011 Wade Miley - Arizona Diamondbacks & Steve Clevenger - Baltimore Orioles). Miley, who was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the supplemental first round of the 2008 MLB draft (43rd overall), is the highest drafted Lion.
During his rookie season Miley was selected to play in the 2012 Major League All-Star Game played in Kansas City, MO and finished second in the NL Rookie of the Year voting.
