Artigues Named Louisiana Co-Coach of the Year

After guiding the SLU Lions to its first ever 40 win season, Jay Artigues was named 2010 Louisiana Co-Coach of the Year along with UL-Lafayette's Tony Robichaux by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

In his fifth season in charge of the Southeastern program, Artigues guided the Lions to their best record overall (40-19) while equaling the school’s best record (21-12) in Southland Conference play. After earning a three-game sweep early in the season at Mississippi State, Southeastern entered the national rankings for the first time as a Division I member and spent the next eight weeks in the polls.

Here is a re-cap of the voting:  Voting -- Jay Artigues, 10; Tony Robichaux, 10; Jon Paul Davis, 5; James Cooper, 4; Rocke Musgraves, 2; Mike Byrnes, 1; Paul Mainieri, 1.

Southeastern is now the PROUD home of both the Louisiana Baseball Coach of the Year (Jay Artigues) and the Louisiana Football Coach of the Year (Mike Lucas) for the 2009-10 academic year.
