From the Dugout with Cody Gougler

To get an inside look at what it is like to be a member of the 2012 Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team, ILB has asked senior OF Cody Gougler to write a weekly journal giving the Lion Nation a behind the scenes look at one of the top programs in the Southland Conference.

Gougler finished the 2011 season hitting .289 with three HRs and 27 RBIs.  He finished 2nd on the team in doubles with 12.  Against UTSA Gougler notched one of his two four hit games, as he recorded 3 doubles and a HR.  On May 8 against Nichols State he hit a double and two HRs, the only multi-home run game by a Lion in 2011.  The switch hitting free swinger was named the LSWA Hitter of the Week for May 9, 2011.

The Huntsville, TX native, who is majoring in Sports Management, was also named 2010 1st Team Academic All-Southland Conference and 2011 2nd Team Academic All Southland Conference.  Gougler originally came to SLU out of Huntsville High as a punter on the football team.  However, after redshirting during the 2008 football season he concentrated fully on baseball.
