Getting to Know the Southland Conference - Part I

Inside Lions Baseball will begin taking a three part look at the 12 schools which makeup the Southland Conference. Today ILB highlights the SLC office and will take a look at the University of Texas-San Antonio, Texas State, the University of Texas-Arlington, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

In its 44 year history the Southland Conference has grown into a 12 member league which sponsors 17 championship sports at the NCAA Division 1 level. Now headquartered in Frisco, TX, the SLC was born when current members Lamar and the University of Texas-Arlington joined three other institutions during its historic meeting in Dallas on March 15, 1963. In 2006 the conference expanded to twelve teams when it welcomed the University of Central Arkansas and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Tom Burnett is the SLC Commissioner.
