Artigues Inducted into PRCC Hall of Fame

Southeastern Louisiana head baseball coach Jay Artigues was recently inducted into the Pearl River Community College Sports Hall of Fame. Artigues coached at his Alma Mater from 2002-2005 and played for the Wildcats from 1988-1989.

In his four seasons as the Wildcats head coach Artigues compiled a 168-51 record and captured three conference championships. During the 2002 season Artigues was named Region XXIII and Central District Coach of the Year as he guided PRCC to a then school record 42 wins and a berth in the JUCO World Series. In 2003 Artigues’ Wildcats reached the #1 ranking in the country while going 38-13 and advancing to the state and regional playoffs for the second straight season.  In his final season at Pearl River the Wildcats finshed with a school record 46 wins and were ranked #1 in the country in the final JUCO National poll.

As a student-athlete Artigues was a two year letterwinner and earned All-State and All-Region XIII honors. As a freshman Artigues hit .414 and followed that up by hitting .416 as a sophomore. His batting averages still rank as two of the highest in school history.

Artigues took over the Southeastern baseball program following the 2005 season and now ranks 4th on the school's All-Time Wins list with 126.
