Gold Wins Thriller in 13 Innings

Here is the release from Game 1 of the Green/Gold World Series put out by the Southeastern baseball office.

The Gold team took game one of the Fall World Series in 13 innings. After ending nine innings in a 1-1 tie both teams scored one run in the 12th inning before the Gold team erupted for 4 runs in the 13th to take a 7-3 decision. Starting pitchers for both teams dominated. For the Gold team Senior Tyler Watkins pitched 6 innings giving up only 4 hits while Brandon Efferson started for the Green team and pitched 6 innings with 5 hits. Freshman Jason Greenleaf pitched 6 shutout innings of relief for the Gold team. Stefan Lopez and Josh Janway each pitched 2 innings of shutout ball for the Green team.

Offensively Joe Sparacino homered for the Gold team in the second inning and freshman Adam Michel had two hits. The Green team was led at the plate by Cody Gougler with two hits.

Game 1 - Gold 7 - Green 2 13 innings (Gold leads series 1-0)

Game 2 - Friday October 29 at 2:30pm

Game 3 - Saturday October 30 at 11:00am
