Series Even as Green Wins 5-1

Here is the release from Game 2 of the Green/Gold World Series put out by the Southeastern baseball office.

The green team evened the series at one all today after defeating the Gold Team 5-1. Starting pitcher Kenneth Atwood, a junior college transfer, pitched six strong innings giving up only 1 run while picking up the win on the mound. The Green Team was led offensively by Justin Brodnax who was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and Trey Martin with 2 doubles. Joseph Koon, a transfer from Itawamba JC, pitched very well for the Gold Team going 5 2/3 giving up only 2 runs. Michael Rutland and Adam Michel had 2 hits a piece for the Gold Team.

The series concludes tomorrow (Saturday) with 1st pitch slated for 11:00 A.M. Lefthander Steven Poche, a redshirt freshman from Parkview Baptist HS, will start on the mound for the Gold team. The Green Team will counter with freshman lefthander Matt Pittari from Fountainbleu HS.
