With the Lions finishing the week 2-3, including dropping the weekend series on the road to Lamar, they fell seven spots to number 43 in Prefect Game's Top 50 poll this week. SLU dropped a mid-week contest to Tulane 7-2 and beat Alcorn State the next night 12-3. After winning at Lamar 2-1 on Friday the Lions lost Saturday 6-4 and Sunday 4-1. Overall the Lions are 20-9 and 7-5 in the Southland Conference.

ILB Players of the Week - Week 7
Inside Lions Baseball has named Stefan Lopez and Cody Gougler as the Players of the Week for week 7 of the 2012 season.
Stefan Lopez - SLU All-Time Saves Leader
Junior closer Stefan Lopez became the program's All-Time Saves leader with his 20th career save on Friday night in the Lions 2-1 victory over Lamar. Lopez passed Chris Franklin, who racked up 19 saves during his two year (2009-10) career in Hammond. With his 20 saves Lopez is five saves shy of the All-Time Southland Conference career record of 25 held by Zach Calhoon (2007-09) of Texas-San Antonio.
Lions Drop Series to Lamar
After winning 9 of 11 games and taking two Southland Conference series in a row, the road was not kind to the SLU Lions. Traveling to Beaumont, TX for a weekend series against rival Lamar, the Lions could not come through with timely hits. SLU dropped the series two games to one, as they stranded 28 runners over the three game series. With the series loss the Lions drop to 20-9 overall and 7-5 in the SLC.

Lions Cruise Past Alcorn State
The SLU Lions cruised to a 12-3 victory over Alcorn State at The Pat on Wednesday night, giving head coach Jay Artigues his 220th career win as the Lions Skipper. Buck Bernard picked up his 2nd win of the season as he fanned seven batters over six innings, giving up one run on five hits. The Lions bats only picked up seven hits, however they picked up seven runs on three extra base hits and two sac flies.

Big Inning Dooms Lions
What started out as a good game got ugly quick, as Tulane scored six runs in the top of the 5th inning propelling them to a 7-2 mid-week win over the Lions at The Pat on Tuesday night. It was Tulane's first win in Hammond since the 2002 season. With the loss SLU falls to 18-7 on the season. The Lions return to action on Wednesday night against Alcorn State at The Pat. First pitch is set for 6pm.
