ILB Players of the Week - Week 7

Inside Lions Baseball has named Stefan Lopez and Cody Gougler as the Players of the Week for week 7 of the 2012 season.

Pitcher of the Week - Jr Closer Stefan Lopez
Lopez became the program's All-Time Saves leader, as he closed the door in the Lions 2-1 SLC win over Lamar on Friday night.  Lopez, recording his 20th career save, gave up no earned runs, on two hits, and recored one strike out.  In 12 appearences this season Lopez has 10 saves.  For the year Lopez has a 0.00 ERA to go with 18 strike outs over 11.2 innings.

Hitter of the Week - Sr OF Cody Gougler

Gougler heated up this week for the Lions, as he hit safely in all five games and recorded multiple hits in three of the five games.  The Huntsville, TX native was 9-21 (.429) with a HR, 3 RBI's, and 4 runs scored for the week.  Gougler had a three hit night in the Lions 12-3 win over Alcorn State on Wednesday night going 3-5 with 2 RBI's, and 3 runs scored.  On Friday night he provided the insurance run the Lions would need in a 2-1 win over SLC rival Lamar with a solo home run in the top of the 9th.   For the season Gougler is hitting .307 and leads the team with 25 RBI's.
