Southeastern Louisiana University head baseball coach Jay Artigues is still smiling. Not because his Lions return all eight position players and five of his top six pitchers from a team that won 40 games a year ago. And not because his beloved New Orleans Saints are back in the playoffs defending their 1st Super Bowl Championship.
Coach Artigues is smiling because his baseball team has earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 5th straight semester. The 2011 Lions finished the fall semester with a 3.10 team GPA and roughly 70% of the players on the 2011 roster finished the semester with at least a 3.0 GPA.
