Lions Picked 2nd; 3 Named Pre-Season All SLC

The 2011 Southeastern Louisiana Lions have been picked to finish 2nd in the Southland Conference behind 2 time defending champ Texas State, the league announced on Tuesday.  Texas State was picked to the win the SLC and SLU was picked second followed by Lamar, Northwestern State, and Stephen F. Austin in the coaches' poll.  In a poll of the league's Sports Information Directors Texas State and SLU were picked one and two followed by Northwestern State, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin.

In the coaches' poll Texas State received nine first place votes as SLU, Lamar, and Northwestern State received one each.  In the SID's poll Texas State tallied 8 first place votes with SLU and Northwestern State getting two each.

The Lions placed three players on the All Southland Conference pre-season team.  Senior Jeff Harkensee, a OF from Arlington Heights, IL was named to the first team.  Junior SS Justin Boudreaux, from Prairieville, LA and OF Cass Hargis, a senior from Meraux, LA were named to the 2nd Team.

SLU will kickoff the season on the road at Florida International on February 18-20.  The three game series can be seen live on ESPN3 and ESPNU.  The home opener is February 22 against Tulane at "The Pat".  First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm.
