With a very attractive 25 game home schedule and major renovations completed at The Pat, the 2013 baseball season is going to be very exciting.
The Lions will be hosting in-state rivals Tulane, UL-Lafayette, the University of New Orleans and Nichols State in the newly renovated Alumni Field. Other non-conference games slated in Hammond are UT-Martin, Texas-Southern, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, South Alabama and Jackson State. Southland Conference schools visiting The Pat include Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, defending SLC champs Sam Houston State and heated rival Lamar.
During the fall the old infield playing surface at The Pat was replaced with new sod and conditioner. The old chain link perimeter fence has been replaced with a new decorative metal fence, along with matching brick columns. And to top it off a new brick backstop complete with new poles and netting has been added, making the The Pat one of the premier venues in the Southland Conference.
