Lions Vote on Fall World Series Awards

After completing the most competitive Fall World Series in the Jay Artigues era, the Southeastern Louisiana baseball team gathered Monday in the Dugas Center to vote for the Fall World Series award winners.

Winning the Pitcher of the Series was freshmen LHP Jordan Hymel. The Gramercy native was the winning pitcher of Game 3, where he threw 6 complete innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits, as the Green team won 6-1. Hymel cooled down the Gold team’s bats, as the Gold team notched 21 hits in the first two games. The freshmen’s performance on the hill turned the tide of the series.

Torin Lucas, of nearby Ponchatoula, was voted Hitter of the Series. The sophomore catcher was on fire the entire series as he hit .500 (7-14). Lucas also came through for the Gold team with some clutch hits as he drove in 5 runs during the five game set.
