The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team will be hosting a ground breaking ceremony for their new hitting facility on Thursday February 3 at 1:00pm. The ceremony will take place behind the left field wall at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field (The Pat), which is where it will be located.
A special thanks goes out to Mr. and Mrs. John Poteet for their generous donation, as well as the Lion Athletic Association (LAA).

Intra-Squads Slated for this Weekend
The 2011 edition of SLU Baseball kicks off it's first full team practices of the season on Friday January 28. Coach Jay Artigues and his Lions will also be hosting two intra-squad games this weekend.

Lions Picked 2nd; 3 Named Pre-Season All SLC
The 2011 Southeastern Louisiana Lions have been picked to finish 2nd in the Southland Conference behind 2 time defending champ Texas State, the league announced on Tuesday. Texas State was picked to the win the SLC and SLU was picked second followed by Lamar, Northwestern State, and Stephen F. Austin in the coaches' poll. In a poll of the league's Sports Information Directors Texas State and SLU were picked one and two followed by Northwestern State, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin.

In the college baseball world Eric Sorenson of College Baseball today is the man when it comes to pre-season college baseball hype. Today the Stich-Head himself put together a power ranking of all 300 Division I baseball teams.

Baseball America Ranks Miley as D-Backs #8 Prospect
Former SLU Lion Wade Miley was recently ranked the number eight overall prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization by Baseball America. The LHP pitcher from Loranger, LA is also projected to be the 5th starter in the D-Backs rotation for the 2014 MLB season.

Diamond Club Meeting Changed

Making the Grade...AGAIN!
Southeastern Louisiana University head baseball coach Jay Artigues is still smiling. Not because his Lions return all eight position players and five of his top six pitchers from a team that won 40 games a year ago. And not because his beloved New Orleans Saints are back in the playoffs defending their 1st Super Bowl Championship.
