Former Southeastern and current Arizona Diamondbacks' pitcher Wade Miley was featured in the 2012 Southeastern Spring Sports Report. Miley, a Loranger, LA native, helped a local teen's worthy cause. Also featured in the Sports Report is Chris Franklin (Padres) and Justin Boudreaux (Dodgers) coming back to campus and participating in the Alumni Baseball game.

Watkins Honored as LSWA Pitcher of the Year
Senior RHP Tyler Watkins was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Year on Saturday the association announced. Junior SS Justin Boudreaux, a recent 14th round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was named to the LSWA All-Louisiana 2nd team. Sophomore 2B Brock Hebert was named Honorable Mention.

Junior SS Justin Boudreaux was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 14th round of the 2011 MLB draft. Boudreaux was the 434th pick of the draft.

Lions Place Seven on All-SLC Team
The SLU Lions placed seven members on the 2011 All-Southland Conference Teams by a vote of league coaches and sports information directors. Leading the way was SS Justin Boudreaux, RHP Tyler Watkins, and RHP Brandon Efferson, who were selected to the 2nd Team.

Lions Drop Series to Nicholls State
It was an ugly weekend that ended with an offensive explosion. The SLU Lions got roughed up by the Nichols State Colonels on Friday 7-3 then were 10 run ruled in Thibodaux on Saturday 11-1. The Lions put up 11 hits in both games but could not muster the timely hits as the Colonels racked up a season high 16 hits on Friday then topped it with 17 hits on Saturday. To make matters worst SLU committed five errors in the two games.

Lions Beat ULL...Again!!!
The dominance over UL-Lafayette continued for the SLU Lions as they beat the Ragin Cajuns in Lafayette 6-2 for their seventh straight victory over their in state rivals. With the win the Lions sweep the season series for the third consecutive season.

Lions Take Series From Islanders, History Made
The SLU Lions won a much needed conference series against the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders and in the process some history was made at "The Pat". On Thursday night the Lions picked up an 11-2 victory behind a dominant pitching performance from Brandon Efferson and a hot bat by Joe Sparacino.

Lions Strike in the 5th, Beat Southern
Just like in their first meeting in Baton Rouge, lightning struck again during the SLU vs Southern baseball game. However, this time the strikes came in the 5th inning from the Marucci bats the Lions were swinging, as they put up five runs on four hits to take a 9-4 lead and never look back in their 10-4 midweek win over the Jaguars.

Lions Get Series Win Over Lamar
The SLU Lions picked up a huge series win over Lamar this weekend in Hammond. After dropping game one on Friday night 3-1 the Lions roared back on Saturday and Sunday winning their second SLC series of the season.

Just What the Doctor Ordered
After being in a funk for the last two weeks the Lions got just what the doctor ordered. A breakout TEAM win. SLU got solid pitching, timely hits, and played error free defense in their 11-0 win over the University of New Orleans on Tuesday night at "The Pat". With the win the Lions improve to 17-9 on the season as they welcome SLC rival Lamar to Hammond for a crucial conference series this weekend.

Lions Take One on the Chin, Drop Series to UCA
The SLU Lions went on the road to Conway, AR and picked up a 6-5 win over Central Arkansas on Friday but ended up on the wrong side of the score on Saturday and Sunday. In game two on Saturday UCA won 5-4 on a walk off error in the bottom of the 12th inning. On Sunday the Bears won the rubber match beating the Lions 16-5 in seven innings.

Cowboys Take Series From SLU
Coming off a weekend where the SLU bats and pitchers dominated UTSA for a series sweep, the Lions were on the other side of the spectrum against McNeese State on Friday and Saturday. In Friday's game the Cowboys put up five runs in the first three innings and finished the game with 11 hits, as they didn't look back in their 8-4 win. Offensively the Lions could not get anything going, as they stranded eight runners.

Big First Inning Halts Lions Streak
A seven run first inning for the Tulane Greenwave proved too much for the Lions to overcome, as their four game winning streak was snapped in their 7-3 loss to the Wave on Tuesday night in New Orleans. The two big blows the Wave delivered in the inning were a two run double and a three run home run.

Over the weekend the SLU Lions went on the road and did a little house cleaning as they swept UTSA in the opening weekend of Southland Conference play. The Lions looked impressive in all phases of the game the entire weekend.

Dominance Over ULL Continues for Lions
The SLU Lions made it six straight victories over in-state rival UL-Lafayette, as they beat the Ragin Cajuns 7-5 on Wednesday night at "The Pat", running their record to 9-4 on the season. The Lions are now 4-1 against the Sun Belt Conference during the 2011 season.

SLC Names Boudreaux Hitter of the Week
Junior SS Justin Boudreaux was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for his performance this past week. JBoo, who was named MVP of the South Alabama Classic, went 8-17 with 2 2B and 2 HR in wins over Tulane, Alabama, Central Florida, and South Alabama. His week was highlighted by his 4-5 day against UCF, where he homered and drove in 4 runs.
Lions sophomore closer Stefan Lopez was named honorable mention SLC Pitcher of the Week. Lopez picked up two saves over the weekend, as he allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out 4 in 4.2 innings of work.

Lions Picked 2nd; 3 Named Pre-Season All SLC
The 2011 Southeastern Louisiana Lions have been picked to finish 2nd in the Southland Conference behind 2 time defending champ Texas State, the league announced on Tuesday. Texas State was picked to the win the SLC and SLU was picked second followed by Lamar, Northwestern State, and Stephen F. Austin in the coaches' poll. In a poll of the league's Sports Information Directors Texas State and SLU were picked one and two followed by Northwestern State, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin.

Congratulations Graduates
Southeastern LA University held its fall commencement on December 11, 2010. We'd like to congratulate the following former Lion baseball players on their graduation:
Ryan Boudreaux (2009-10), Chris Ernest (2008-10), Phillip Freeman (2007-10), and Andrew Hickman (2007-08).
Kristin Waguespack, office assistant, also received her diploma. Kristin worked as a student worker for the SLU Athletic Department; serving 4 seasons with the baseball program.
