What to Watch For
SLU's probable pitchers for the weekend are RHP Joseph Koon (1-0, 3.00), LHP Jordan Hymel (1-0, 1.80), and LHP Buck Bernard (0-0, 6.75).  It should be all arms on deck from the bullpen over the weekend, with closer Stefan Lopez (2 Saves) leading the way.  The Panthers will counter with LHP Mike Hoekstra (0-0, 0.00), RHP Christian Slazinik (1-0, 0.00), and making his 1st career start will be RHP Andrew Grahn.  In two games the Panthers pitching staff has not given up a earned run.

Top hitters for the Lions are Brock Hebert (.600/0/0), Jacob Fisher (.375/0/3), and Harry Slade (.333/0/8).  The Panthers top hitters are Jacob Reese (.714/0/1), Ben Thoma (.571/0/0), and Caleb Howell (.429/0/3).

Last Time They Played - SLU and Eastern Illinois last meet during opening weekend of the 2010 season in Hammond, where the Lions swept the series.  SLU also swept the weekend series in Hammond to open the 2008 season.  Eastern Illinois won the 2009 season opening series winning on Friday and Sunday, as the Lions won the Saturday game.  SLU leads the all-time series 7-2, with all nine games being played at The Pat.

Hot Start - The Lions 4-0 start to the 2012 season ranks as the 3rd best start in school history, tied with the 1985, 1993, and 1996 teams.  The 1998 team started out 6-0 and the 2010 team won 11 straight games.

Streaking - No.  Not the eight game winning streak over UL-Lafayette.  That is old news.  Junior 2B Brock Hebert has hit safely in the Lions first four games.  In fact Hebert has at least two hits in all four games.

Closing Time - Junior closer Stefan Lopez has two saves through the first four games, giving him 12 for is career.  He needs one more save to move into 2nd place all-time with Chris Province.  The school's All-Time Saves leader is Chris Franklin with 19.
