Pitcher of the Week - JR LHP Jordan Hymel
Hymel pitched seven innings giving up one run on seven hits and fanning five Cowboys earning his 6th win of the season in the Lions 12-2 victory over McNeese State on Friday night. After giving up one run and three hits in the first inning, Hymel settled down and held the Cowboys scoreless over the next six innings and holding them hitless over his last three innings of work. For the season the Lutcher High product is 6-3 with a 2.81 ERA and the leads the Lions with 53 strike outs.
Hitter of the Week - JR OF Alex Marse
Marse hit .600 (6-10) with a triple, four RBI's and four runs scored in the Lions series win over McNeese State. The highlight of his weekend was his performance in the Lions 12-2 win on Friday, as the St. Charles Catholic product went 3-4 with a triple, two RBI's and three runs scored. On Thursday night Marse was 2-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. Marse has reached base safely in the last 10 games and is currently on a six game hitting streak.
