Is Midnight Madness Coming to a Baseball Diamond Near You?

As part of his ongoing efforts to promote the game of college baseball, Eric Sorenson of collegebaseballtoday.com is asking for one Division I baseball team to open up its season at midnight on February 19.

Sorenson has even teamed up with Easton to add some incentives for the team that is willing to bring “Midnight Madness” to their field, including an appearance to personally cover the game himself.

Sorenson came up with the idea after Florida Gulf Coast hosted Central Michigan to open up the 2009 season last year at 12:01 on opening day.

Along with the excitement the game could generate, collegebaseballtoday.com and Easton offer some nice incentives too. Sorenson will make the trip to cover the game himself, along with a complete write-up with pictures. He will also include a pre-weekend interview with the head coach of the host team and provide the coaching staff with “Stitch-Head Nation” t-shirts. Easton will supply the host team with bats and equipment to donate to a Little League program in the area as a sign of goodwill. They have also promised to make a serious attempt through their contacts to get CBS College Sports involved to possibly televise the game.

But here is the clincher….Sorenson promises to openly cheer for the host team the entire season and make them the preferred team of the Stitch-Head Nation by posting their results as often as possible on CollegeBaseballToday.com.

Be sure to vote in ILB's latest poll regarding Midnight Maddness coming to Southeastern.
