Southeastern Louisiana’s Chris Franklin has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year watch list, the association announced today. The Stopper of the Year award is given to the nation’s top relief pitcher at the end of the season.
The Lions senior closer posted a record breaking campaign in 2009, where he posted a 5-2 record with a 2.60 ERA. The Oneonta, AL native set the Southeastern single season saves record by shutting the door on 12 opponents.
Franklin is currently second in career saves and needs only 2 saves in 2010 to become the Lions career leader. The NCBWA recently named Franklin to their pre-season All-American Team.
