The SLU Lions picked up their 20th win of the season with a 13-8 victory over South Alabama on Tuesday night at "The Pat". The Lions racked up 13 hits and produced 13 runs as they put crooked numbers on the board in the 4th (3), 5th (2), and 8th (8) innings. The Lions offense also took advantage of four Jaguar errors. Jordan Hymel pitched five strong innings as he gave up only one run on two hits. Hymel picked up his 3rd win of the season as he got the Jaguars to ground out 11 times.
Things got a little dicey in the 9th as South Alabama was able to plate six runs on five hits and two Lion errors. But Dylan Hills was able to get a foul out to 2B to end the game. With the win SLU sweeps the season series with USA and runs it record to 5-1 against Sun Belt Conference schools this year.
SLU improves to 20-10 on the season and sits at 7-5 in the Southland Conference as they hit the road to face UT-Arlington this weekend. The Lions and Mavericks currently are tied for 3rd in the SLC standings.
