Last Time They Played - Last season down in Corpus Christi the Islanders took the series from a nationally ranked Lions team winning game one 10-5 and game two 11-5.  SLU avoided the sweep by winning game three 11-3.  In 2009 at "The Pat" the Lions won game one 4-3, as OF Cass Hargis hit for the cycle.  The Islanders won game two 7-4 and SLU won the rubber match 12-6 to take the series.  SLU leads the series 5-4 since the Islanders joined the SLC in 2008.

Chasing History - Hargis' 274 career hits are two shy of tying former teammate Ty Summerlin for the program's all time hits lead.

Moving On Up - Brandon Efferson's 22 career wins ranks 3rd all time in school history.  Efferson needs two more wins to tie former Lion Chris Laiche for 2nd.  Kenny Lehrmann is the all time leader with 25.

Leader Board - Efferson and Tyler Watkins lead the SLC in wins with six each.  Closer Stefan Lopez leads the conference in saves with eight.

Just Win Baby - Head coach Jay Artigues currently needs three more Southland Conference wins to reach 100 as the Lions skipper.  In his six seasons in Hammond, the Lions average 16 conference wins a year.  Artigue's 190 overall wins rank 3rd all time in school history.  Pat Kennelly (1951-64) is 2nd with 211 and Greg Marten (1991-2002) is 1st with 348.

Inside the Numbers - SLU ranks 1st in the SLC with a .395 On Base Percentage.  The Islanders rank 4th at .386.  The Lions also lead the SLC in Hit by Pitches with 78 as the Islanders rank 4th with 40.  Corpus Christi ranks 1st in Slugging Percentage (.438) and Total Bases (577).  SLU ranks 6th in Slugging Percentage (.405) and 7th in Total Bases (513).  From the mound the Lions rank 5th in ERA (3.62) and 4th in Opponents Batting Average (.258).  The Islanders 6.32 ERA and .303 OBA rank 12th in both categories.

Double Trouble - Both the Lions and Islanders lead the conference in hitting into double plays with 33.
