Going on the road for the first time this season was not kind to the SLU Lions, as they got roughed up by the Tulane Green Wave 12-1 in New Orleans. SLU's (7-1) young bullpen gave up 12 runs, 11 of them earned, on 12 hits to a very potent Tulane (8-1) line-up who came into the game hitting .364 as team. Offensively the Lions could not get going, as they only put up six hits and stranded 11 base runners.

The Dominance Continues!
It was not pretty but the statement was clear. The SLU baseball program does not play second fiddle to ULL in south Louisiana. For the eighth straight time the Lions defeated their in-state rival, as they capitalized on Ragin Cajun miscues winning 6-5 on Wednesday night at The Pat. The Lions moved to 4-0 on the season, as ULL drops to 1-3. The Ragin Cajuns last victory against SLU came on March 5, 2008.

Southland Coaches Pick Lions 2nd, SID's 3rd
Just to give you an idea of how far the SLU baseball program has come since Jay Artigues took over in 2006. The Lions lost eight players who made up the winningest class (144 wins) in program history to graduation, including the all-time hits leader, the single season doubles leader, the Louisiana Pitcher of the Year, and a pitcher who collected the second most wins in school history. And let us not forget SS Justin Boudreaux signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, after being selected in the 14th round of the MLB draft. In all, the 2012 Lions need to replace six position players and two of their weekend starters from 2011.
