ILB Players of the Week - Week 2

Joseph Koon

Inside Lions baseball has named Joseph Koon and the entire Lions lineup as the Players of the Week for week two of the 2011 season.

Pitcher of the Week - Junior RHP Joseph Koon
It was a close call with Brandon Efferson and Jordan Hymel having outstanding outings during the week, but we give the nod to Joseph Koon. The Saltillo, MS native held the Central Florida Knights to two runs on six hits over 6.1 innings of work. The Knights entered the game as one of CUSA's top hitting teams with a .363 batting average. And for the second week in a row a Lion pitcher busted up a hitting streak. UCF catcher Beau Taylor entered the game on a 26 game hitting streak, which was tied for longest in school history. Taylor finished his day 0-4 with two strikeouts.

Hitter of the Week - The Entire Lions Lineup
For the week Lion hitters hit a sizzling .370 as team leading SLU to a 4-0 week with wins over Tulane, Alabama, Central Florida, and South Alabama. The Lions went 58-157 with 13 2B and five home runs. SLU scored 32 runs on the week as they averaged eight runs a game. During the week the Lions bats pounded out double digit hits in every game and in each game at least four hitters had multi hit games. In the 7-2 win over Central Florida seven Lions recorded a multi hit game.
