It is Mardi Gras time down in New Orleans and the Southeastern baseball hit parade continues to roll, as the Lions beat Central Florida 7-2 running their record to 5-1 on the season. For the third straight game the Lions pounded out at least 15 hits, as they collected 16 against one of the top pitching staffs in CUSA. For the third straight game the Lions also had at least five players record multi hit games, as six Lions collected at least two hits on Saturday. Leading the way was Justin Boudreaux with 4 hits, one being a two run home run in the 8th inning.
Joseph Koon bounced back nicely from a rough first outing against FIU last weekend, as he held the Knights (who came into the weekend hitting .363 as a team) to two runs on six hits over 6.1 innings. Koon struck out five and walked two. Closer Stephan Lopez was lights out as he surrendered one hit and struck out three finishing out the game.
The Lions face South Alabama Sunday at 2:30 in the final game of the South Alabama Classic.
