Lions Fall 8-3, Look to Clinch Series on Sunday

What began as the Garrett Wittels chasing history series has slowly developed into a heavyweight fight between two mid-majors showing the nation they are ready to play on the big stage.  After SLU landed a vicious right hook on Friday with a 10-2 win, the Panthers picked themselves up off of the canvas with a 8-2 win on Saturday to even the series.  The rubber match on Sunday is set for Sunday at 6:30.  The game can be seen on ESPN3.com.  As of Saturday evening ESPN was not sure if the game will be televised on ESPNU.

Freshmen pitchers Steven Poche, Matt Pittari, and Dylan Hills all took the bump for the first time in their careers.  All three faced FIU's All-American Garrett Wittels and retired him, with Hills striking him out.
