With a little over three weeks left before Southeastern throws out it's first pitch of the 2011 season against Florida International in Miami, FL (Feb 18-20), the Lions will be hosting their pre-season banquet and Alumni game this weekend February 4-5.
The annual Pre-Season Banquet will be held Friday February 4 at 6:00pm. This years banquet will be held at Twelve Oaks on the Southeastern campus and will feature senior speakers Josh Cryer and Cass Hargis. Coach Jay Artigues will introduce the 2011 Lions, there will be SLU memorabilia for auction, and dinner will be served. Tickets are $25. For ticket info contact the baseball office at (985) 549-3566.
On Saturday February 5 the 2011 Lions will face SLU Team Alumni at "The Pat". First pitch is scheduled for noon. Team Alumni, headed by Chad Catalano, will feature current professional players Chris Franklin (Padres), Wade Miley (Diamondbacks), Chris Province (Twins) along with SLU's All-Time Hits leader Ty Summerlin. Former professional players Randy Roth and Jeremy Mizell are also slated to participate. The Alumni Game is free and open to the public. This will be a great opportunity for photographs and autographs with former Lion greats and the 2011 team.
