The Pat - "A Mid-Major Gem"

Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field has been called "a mid-major gem" in a recent review by Stadium Journey.  Stadium Journey's special correspondent Paul Donaldson provides a in-depth review of The Pat and rates the classic ballpark on a scale of 0-5 in the following areas: Food & Beverage (2), Atmosphere (4), Neighborhood (3), Fans (4), Access (5), Return on Investment (5) and Extras (5).  Overall The Pat gets a total FanFare score of 4 by Stadium Journey.

It is great to see The Pat, one of the toughest places to play in the Southland Conference, get some recognition.

Lions to Face Tough Slate in 2011...Look to become Road Warriors

The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team released its 2011 schedule on Thursday. A schedule that will be one of the toughest in program history. Coach Jay Artigues and his Lions, coming off the first 40 win season in school history, will face 13 of 21 teams that won 30 or more games last season. And if that isn't tough enough 31 games will be played away from the friendly confines of "The Pat".

Lions Win…Sets School Record

Riding a 10 game winning streak to start the season, the #29 ranked Southeastern Lions took advantage of three Texas Southern errors and beat the Tigers 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. With the win the Lions move to 11-0 on the season and sets the school record for most consecutive wins, passing the 1964 and 1997 teams. The victory also gives SLU its 3rd straight series win this year.

With their 14-8 win over the Texas Southern Tigers on Friday night at Alumni Field, the #29 ranked SLU Lions moved their season record to 10-0. Their 10 wins, already the best start in school history, tie them for the longest winning streak in school history with the 1964 and 1997 teams.

Lions Remain Undefeated, "Walk" over JSU

The #29 ranked Southeastern Lions improved to 8-0 on the year with an 18-2, seven inning victory over Jackson State on a very cold night at Alumni Field on Tuesday.

Lions Clinch Season Opening Series

Lions win! Lions win! Bring your brooms to Alumni Field on Sunday as the Lions look to sweep the 2010 season opening series.

With an 11-5 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers on Saturday, the Lions clinched the first series of the new season and look to take all three on Sunday.

What a thrilling season opener?! The Lions started the home half of the 8th inning down 5-1 and scored 5 runs in the final 2 frames to defeat the Eastern Illinois Panthers 6-5 on opening night.

Tailgating Area Gets Name

"The Jungle" - Baseball Tailgating Area at SLU

When the Lion Nation arrives for Southeastern Louisiana baseball games this year, tailgating at Alumni Field will look to reach new heights. And the first order of business to enhance the pre-game party was to give the tailgating area a name. ILB put three names to a vote and the overwhelming choice was “THE JUNGLE”.

On Deck for this Weekend

This weekend the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team will be hosting three intra-squad games at Alumni Field (Friday 3:00, Saturday 11:00AM, and Sunday 10:00AM). Intra-Squads are open to the public and admission is free. Intra-Squads are subject to change due to the weather.

On Deck This Week

The Southeastern baseball team will look to begin it first team practices of the spring this week as they play three intra-squad games over the weekend. The Lions will be playing Friday (3:00), Saturday (noon), and Sunday (1:00) at Alumni Field. All intra-squads are free and open to the public. Please remember times are subject to change due to the weather.

Lion Baseball Holiday Update

As the holiday rush is fast approaching the Southeastern Louisiana baseball team is putting the brakes on the Fall semester. With Fall practice, workouts, and intra-squads behind them, the Lions are in their last week of the semester with final exams beginning next Monday.

If anything can be said of Coach Jay Artigues' 2010 Lion baseball team it is that they will be a very competitive bunch. After being down 2-0 in the Fall World Series, the Green team has stormed back and has taken control of the series with a 6-5 victory on Family Day at Alumni Field.

Lions Baseball to Host Family Day


The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team will be hosting its first ever “Family Day” on Saturday, November 7 at Alumni Field. The gates will open at 10:00 AM.

Included in the festivities will be free hot dogs and drinks for all fans, a fun jump for lil’ Lion fans, and a glimpse of the 2010 edition of Lions baseball, as the Green battles the Gold in an intra-squad game. The intra-squad game is scheduled to begin at 10:40. After the game all kids will be able to run the bases on Pat Kenelly Diamond and meet their favorite Lion players.

Coach Jay Artigues and his staff are welcoming all former Lion baseball players and their families to join the fun.

Family day is free and open to the public.
