Perfect 10!!!

With their 14-8 win over the Texas Southern Tigers on Friday night at Alumni Field, the #29 ranked SLU Lions moved their season record to 10-0. Their 10 wins, already the best start in school history, tie them for the longest winning streak in school history with the 1964 and 1997 teams.

Justin Boudreaux picked up his second win of the season, as he pitched 5.1 innings giving up 5 runs on 10 hits and striking out 3 Tigers. Justin Schneider entered the game in relief with the bases loaded in the 5th inning and one out. The sophomore from Kenner was money, as he struck out the 2 batters he faced stranding the runners. Jacob Ott and Cole Catalano finished off Texas Southern as they pitched the 8th and 9th innings respectively.

The Lions scored 14 runs on 12 hits, as five of the hits went for extra bases, including Cody Gougler’s inside the park home run. Justin Boudreaux let the attack going 2-4 with 4 RBI, HR, and 3 stolen bases. Gougler was 2-3 with a 2B, HR and 3 runs scored. Cass Hargis recorded two hits (2B & 3B) driving in 4 runs and scoring 3 runs. Brock Hebert and Phil Freemen each recorded two hits. Freeman also stole three bases. On the night the Lions tied a school record by swiping 8 bases in the game.

SLU goes for their third series win of the season on Saturday as the Lions and Tigers meet for game two at 2:00.
