The Southeastern baseball team will hit the road for the first time this season as they head to Starkville, MS to face tradition rich Mississippi State of the SEC. The three game series between two 4-0 teams will begin on Friday at 4:00. The series continues on Saturday with a 1:00 start time. First pitch for Sunday is scheduled for 1:30.

The Lions are coming off a weekend series sweep of Eastern Illinois and a mid-week trouncing of Mississippi Valley State. SLU’s pitching limited the Delta Devils to only 1 run on 3 hits in Tuesday night’s 15-1 victory, which gave Jay Artigues’ club its first 4-0 start since 1998. Ryan Boudreaux picked up his first win of the season. At the plate the Lions bashed their way to 13 hits (7 for extra bases) as nine different Lions recorded hits. Jeff Harkensee, who picked up 3 hits, and Joe Sparacino both hit towering home runs for the Lions. Cass Hargis and Brock Hebert each recorded two hits.

Leading hitters for SLU are Harkensee (.533, 2 HR, 4 RBI, and a 1.067 SLG%), Hargis (.400, 3 2B, 3B, 5 RBI), and Justin Boudreaux (.385, 2B, 3B, and a .556 OBP). On the bump Jordan Hymel, Josh Janway, Brandon Efferson, and Ryan Boudreaux have each picked up a win for a staff that sports a 2.25 ERA and is holding opponents to a .227 BA. All-American closer Chris Franklin leads the team with 7 strike outs and has recorded a save. Janway has also picked up a save.

State is coming off of a mid-week contest against UAB which saw Luke Adkins and Connors Powers launch back to back solo shots to win the game 6-5 in walk-off fashion. Over the weekend the Bulldogs swept Rhode Island. The Bulldogs sport a .333 team batting average. Nick Vickerson, Adkins, and Powers are their leading hitters. The Bulldog pitching staff has held opponents to a .234 BA to go along with a 3.25 ERA. They have recorded 35 strikeouts on the season.
