Three Southeastern Lions were named to the Southland Conference Pre-Season All-Conference team, the league announced today. C/3B Josh Cryer, RHP Chris Franklin, and OF Cass Hargis were each named to the 2nd team. The teams are voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Franklin, Southeastern’s single season saves leader, had a record setting season in 2009. The senior from Oneonta, AL shut the door on 12 opponents last season on his way to earning All-American honors. He finished the season with a 5-2 record and a 2.60 ERA. The Lion closer is also a NCBWA preseason All-American and has been named to the NCBWA “Stopper of the Year” watch list.

Hargis, the Lion's junior center fielder, hit .317 with 12 2B, 6 3B, 4 HR and scored a team leading 65 runs. His 65 runs scored in 2009 ranks 3rd best in school history. In a 4-3 victory last season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Hargis hit for the cycle going 4-4 with 2RBI and 2 runs scored.  The Meraux, LA native became the first Lion to hit for the cycle.
