Baseball America Picks Lions Fourth, Gough-Fortenberry Top Newcomer

In their 2010 Southland Conference Preview, Baseball America picked the Southeastern Lions to finish fourth in the conference standings and selected freshman catcher Chad Gough-Fortenberry as the Top Newcomer in the SLC.

Texas State, the defending SLC champions, were picked to repeat. Sam Houston State, the defending SLC tourney champs, were picked to finish second and Lamar was picked to finish third. Rounding out the top five were SLU and Texas-San Antonio.

Gough-Fortenberry, a Northshore High product, bypassed signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers to become a Lion and play his college ball in Hammond. Fortenberry was the Dodgers 43rd round pick of the 2009 MLB draft.
