Opening Day 2010 is finally here. No more intra-squads. No more pre-season rankings. No more pre-season conference previews. The season starts for real today.
There is something special about opening day. It’s the day when 301 Division I college baseball teams all have the same record. It is a day when seniors will begin to cherish every moment they step on the field. It is a day wide-eyed freshmen have no idea what to expect when they step on the field. It is a day coaches get to see the start of their masterpiece for the first time when the bullets are flying. It is a day when fans of every college team believe “It is our Year” to dog pile in Omaha. One thing for sure is every player, coach, and fan will have those butterflies in their belly even though they have experienced opening day many times in their lives. IT IS THE GREATEST DAY OF THE YEAR!
Lion fans do not miss opening weekend as the Lions take on Eastern Illinois in a three game series beginning Friday at Alumni Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm. Saturday’s game is slated for 2:00pm and Sunday’s for 1:00pm.
Be sure to join in the fun at “The Jungle” for some great tailgating. Bring your food, drinks, tents, SLU flags, music and anything else to get the Lion Nation ready for the game. There are grills in “The Jungle” you just need to bring the charcoals.
