Lions Picked to Finish Fourth in Southland Conference

The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team was picked to finish fourth in the Southland Conference pre-season polls, the conference announced today. The Lions were picked to finish fourth in both the coach’s poll and the sports information director’s poll.

Texas State, the defending SLC champions, are picked to win the conference. Sam Houston, who won the 2009 SLC tournament, is picked second. Our friends from Beaumont, the Lamar Cardinals, were picked just ahead us at number three. The University of Texas-San Antonio rounds out the top five.

Southeastern is coming off of its third straight 30 win season as they finished 37-22 in 2009. The 37 wins were second most in school history. The Lions also set the record for most conference wins in school history with a 21-12 record. The last two seasons have seen the Lions make an appearance in the SLC tournament semi-finals.

Opening Day 2010 is February 19 at Alumni Field as the Lions take on Eastern Illinois. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
