Inside Lions Baseball has named Jeff Harkensee and Josh Janway as their first ever Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2010 season.

Hitter of the Week - Junior OF Jeff Harkensee
Harkensee hit .417 in the weekend series sweep of Eastern Illinois. The junior from Arlington Heights, IL went 5-12 with a 2B, HR and 3 RBI to go along with 3 runs scored. Harkensee had 2 hits in both the Friday and Saturday games. On Friday night he went 2-5 with an RBI while launching his first career homerun as a Lion. Saturday Harkensee went 2-3 with a 2B and 2 RBI. He capped off his week by going 1-4 and scoring 2 runs on Sunday.

Pitcher of the Week - Sophomore RHP Josh Janway
Janway pitched 4 innings of scoreless relief over the weekend, surrendering only one hit and striking out 5 Panthers on his way to earning a win and a save. On Friday night the Baton Rouge, LA native entered the game in the ninth inning with the Lions trailing 5-4. Janway sat the Panthers down in order by striking out the first two batters and inducing a ground ball for the third out. As the Lions won the game 6-5 in walk off fashion, Janway picked up the win. On Sunday Janway pitched 3 innings giving up no runs on 1 hit and he fanned 2 Panthers, earning his first save of the season.
