SLU junior catcher Josh Cryer has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VI first team, the CoSIDA office announced recently. This is the second consecutive season the Leesville, LA native has been named to the team.

Cryer’s work in the classroom has been quite impressive, as he maintains a 4.0 GPA in accounting. The College of Business recently named him their Outstanding Junior and he has served as the President of the Southeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee the past two years.

By being named to the first team, Cryer will advance to the national ballot and be eligible for Academic All-American consideration. This marks the 3rd consecutive season a Lions baseball player as been named to the team, as Matthew Schexnayder was selected during the 2008 season.
