Lions Come Up Short Against LSU

The SLU Lions were ready to prove they belonged on the national scene as they entered their game against the struggling LSU Tigers at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge. Although they fell to the Tigers 9-5, the Lions did prove they do belong.

SLU pounded out 11 hits off of six LSU pitchers and fought to the end as they loaded the bases with the tying run at the plate in the top of the 9th inning. In the end, the Lions couldn’t overcome two Tiger home runs and two inning ending double plays, one with a runner on 3rd and one with the bases loaded.

With the loss SLU falls to 33-14 on the season. The Lions play a crucial Southland Conference series this weekend as they host Sam Houston State at “The Pat”.
