Players of the Week - Week 13

Inside Lions Baseball has named Josh Cryer and Tyler Watkins as the Players of the Week for week 13.

Hitter of the Week - Junior C/3B Josh Cryer
Cryer was simply “en fuego“! For the weekend the Lions backstop was 8-12, hitting .667 with a 2B, 5 RBI, 2 BB and a HBP. On Friday in the Lions 7-1 win over Stephen F. Austin Cryer was a smooth 4-4 with a 2B and 2 RBI. In Saturday’s 10-6 victory he went 1-4 with a RBI and BB. In the finale Cryer went 3-4 with 2 more RBI, a BB and a HBP helping the Lions to a one touchdown 14-7victory over SFA.  For his performance this week Cryer was named honorable mention SLC Hitter of the Week.

Pitcher of the Week - Junior RHP Tyler Watkins
Watkins pitched his first career complete game as held the SLC’s top hitting team to one unearned run on 7 hits in the Lions 7-1 win over Stephen F. Austin on Friday. Pitching in his original Friday night spot, Watkins dominated the Lumberjack hitters keeping them off balance all game, as struckout two and issued 3 walks.  With the win Watkins ran his record to 5-3 and lowered his ERA to 3.69, which his 10th best in the SLC. For his performance this week Watkins was named honorable mention SLC Pitcher of the Week.
