Lions Win Series, Tie School Record for Wins

The SLU Lions tied the school record for wins as they notched their 38th win of the season in a 10-6 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. More importantly the Lions now lead the Lumberjacks by 1.5 games in the Southland Conference standings and trail Texas State by one game, as they were beaten Nicholls State 7-3. The Lions improve their record to 38-14 overall and 20-9 in the SLC.

Chris Franklin picked up his fourth win in as many starts bringing his record to 8-4 on the season. Franklin gave up 6 runs on 10 hits and struck out three over seven innings. Josh Janway earned his sixth save of the season as he pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits.

The series finale is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Sunday.

With one more conference win the Lions will tie the school record for conference wins in a season with 21 held by the 2009 team.
