Bernard, Pace Come Up Clutch in Win Over ULL

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the ninth inning and down to their final strike the Lions showed the fight that we have come accustomed to see this season.  Jonathan Pace, as cool as the other side of the pillow, roped a two run double down the left field line putting SLU up 2-1 on the UL-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.  Then closer Stefan Lopez, a Lafayette area product, shut door on the Ragin Cajuns as the Lions won their 9th straight game over their in-state rivals.

Buck Bernard, pitching his longest outing of the season, was lights out against the Cajuns.  Bernard scattered three hits over 6.1 innings, giving up one run to go along with five strike outs.  Equally impressive was ULL's Austin Robichaux, who surrendered two runs on fours hits over 8.2 innings.

The Lions move to 21-9 on the season and open up a three game Southland Conference series with Central Arkansas Thursday at The Pat.  First pitch is set for 6pm.
