ILB PLayers of the Week - Week 8


Inside Lions Baseball has named Buck Bernard, Andro Cutura, and Jonathan Pace as the Players of the Week for week 8 of the 2012 season.

Co-Pitcher of the Week - Jr LHP Buck Bernard
In the Lions win over UL-Lafayette on Tuesday night Bernard's pitching was clutch.  The Petal High product pitched a season high 6.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and fanning five.  Bernard was able to hold the Ragin Cajuns in check until the Lions could produce some offense to win their 9th straight game over ULL.  Bernard is 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA on the year.

Co-Pitcher of the Week - Fr RHP Andro Cutura
The freshman from Pearl River picked up his 2nd straight win in as many starts leading the Lions to a series opening 5-4 win over Central Arkansas on Thursday night.  Cutura, who pitched a career high 7.1 innings, gave up three runs on six hits and fanned five Bears.  For the year Cutura is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA.

Hitter of the Week - Sr IF Jonathan Pace
Pace hit .400 (6-15) for the week in the Lions four games, as he hit 3 doubles and drove in three runs.  In the Lions 2-1 victory at UL-Lafayette Pace, who was down to his last strike, laced a 2 run double down the LF line to give SLU their 9th straight win over the Ragin Cajuns.  In Saturday's 4-3 loss to Central Arkansas the Terry, MS native went 4-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI.
