ILB Players of the Week - Week 11


Inside Lions Baseball has named the Lions bullpen and Brock Hebert as the Players of the Week for week 11 of the 2012 season.

Pitcher of the Week - The Lions Bullpen
The bullpen arms came up huge in the Lions series win at Northwestern State this weekend.  In 12.1 innings of work in the series the Lions bullpen gave up two earned runs on nine hits.  In the Lions 4-2 wins on Saturday and Sunday they held the Demons to 8.1 scoreless innings, while fanning seven batters and walking one.  Dylan Hills (7-2) and Matt Pittari (1-0) each picked up a win and Stefan Lopez added two saves to his record setting season.  For the week the bullpen pitched 18 innings, gave up four runs, on 12 hits, and struck out 11.  Contributing in the pen this week was Hills, Pittari, Lopez, Jason Greenleaf, Tanner Rainey, Kaleb Manuel, and Kyle Keller.

Hitter of the Week - Jr 2B Brock Hebert
Hebert, who has played himself into the front runner for Southland Conference Player of the Year, continued to tear the cover off the ball this week.  In the Lions five games, the junior 2B hit .500 (7-14) with a double, triple, 3 RBI's, 3 Runs, and three stolen bases.  In Saturday's 4-2 win over Northwestern State Hebert went 3-4, scored two runs, was hit by a pitch, and stole two bases.  With his three stolen bases in the weekend series Hebert eclipsed the school's single season stolen bases record, as he currently has 33.  The South Terrebonne High product leads the SLC in hitting (.409), runs scored (47), hits (70), doubles (18), and stolen bases (33).
