Big Inning Proves To Much for Lions

A four run 3rd inning dashed the Lions hopes of getting a big RPI boosting win against the #3 ranked LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on Wednesday night.  SLU, using five different pitchers, held LSU in check for most of the game surrendering seven hits and fanning four.  However, the Lions were only able to get four hits off of seven LSU pitchers and struck out 13 times.  The Lions picked up two runs on wild pitches and a Brock Hebert triple scored their 3rd run.

It was a tough loss for the Lions, who were looking to solidify an already impressive NCAA at-large resume with a signature win.  Currently the Lions sit at 11-1 against teams ranked in the top 50 RPI rankings. With the loss SLU drops to 28-14 overall and will head to Natchitoches, LA this weekend for a Southland Conference series against Northwestern State.
