When Cody Gougler stepped into the batters box in the top of the 2nd inning against UTSA he had 199 career hits. At the end of the at bat he had joined six other Lions as the only players to notch 200 career hits in program history. And as typical Cody Gougler, he did it with some swag. The senior OF from Huntsville, TX gave the Lions a 1-0 lead with a solo shot to right field.
Gougler finished the day 3-5 with a double, home run, and 2 RBI's in leading the Lions to a 4-2 series clinching win over UTSA. His three hit day gave him 202 career hits, which is 5th best in SLU history. The other five Lions to surpass the 200 carer hit mark are Joe Labruzzo (201), Mackey Waguespack (210), Josh Cryer (227), Ty Summerlin (276) and Cass Hargis (299). Congrats Cody!
