Inside Lions Baseball has named Jordan Hymel and Jonathan Pace as the Players of the Week for week 3 of the 2012 season.
Pitcher of the Week - Junior LHP Jordan Hymel
In his 3rd start of the season Hymel earned his second win in the Lions 9-1 victory over McNeese State on Friday night. The former Lutcher High Bulldog went seven innings giving up one run on four hits and striking out two Cowboys. On the season Hymel is 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA and his holding opponents to a .185 BA.
Hitter of the Week - Senior 1B Jonathan Pace
On the week Pace raised his batting average over 100 points, as he went 7-15 (.467) in leading the Lions to a 2-2 week. The Terry High (MS) product finished the week with a .529 OB% to go along with a 2B, 4 RBIs, 2 BBs, HBP, and a sacrifice. The highlight of Pace's week was his 4-5 game in the win over McNeese State where hit a double and drove in three runs. For the season Pace is hitting .378 with 7 RBIs and a .489 OB%.
