Inside Lions Baseball has named Buck Bernard and Brock Hebert as the Players of the Week for week 4 of the 2012 season.
Pitcher of the Week - Jr LHP Buck Bernard
Bernard earned his 1st career win in a 12-1 mid-week victory over Alcorn State on Wednesday night. The Petal, MS native pitched six innings giving up one run on three hits and fanning three Braves. On the season Bernard is 1-0 with a 2.53 ERA over 10 innings pitched.
Hitter of the Week - Jr 2B Brock Hebert
Look up offense in the dictionary and you will see a picture of Brock Hebert. Hebert, who sits atop most offensive categories in the Southland Conference, had another stellar week at the plate. The Bourg, LA native was 10 for 21 (.476) over the Lions five games this week, hitting safely in each game. Hebert, who had at least 2 hits in four of the five games, had 3 2Bs, 4 BBs, 5 Runs, and stole 7 bases on the week. The highlight of his week was his performance on Friday night against the Colonels where he went 3-5, with two doubles, three RBI's, and two stolen bases. For the season he leads the SLC in hitting (.448), Runs Scored (20), Hits (26), Doubles (10), and stolen bases (15).
