Lions Upset #21 Bulldogs, Extend Streak to 4 Games

Freshman RHP Andro Cutura, in only his second start of his career, picked up his first collegiate win in the Lions 4-3 upset of #21 ranked Mississippi State at The Pat on Tuesday night.  After giving up an early two run home run Cutura settled in and pitched five strong innings, giving up six hits and fanning three Bulldogs.  Jason Greenleaf came on in relief striking out three batters in three innings and Stefan Lopez sealed deal with his sixth save of the season, as the Lions defeated Mississippi State for the 4th straight time.  In 2010 SLU swept the weekend series in Starkville, MS.

Offensively the Lions recorded seven hits with four of them being doubles.  Ladd Rhodes and Jacob Fisher had 2 RBI's each, as Rhodes and Cody Gougler each had two hits.  Brock Hebert (11) and Jonathan Pace (9) both extended their hitting streaks.

The Lions will go for the series sweep against Mississippi State tonight at The Pat wearing their solid gold uniforms.  The Lion Nation is encouraged to wear gold!  First pitch is set for 6pm.
