The SLU Lions baseball team had a choice to make. They could pack it in and feel sorry for themselves after a tough 3-1 loss to Jackson State on Tuesday night. Or they could "Lion Up" and bounce back with a solid a performance heading into the first weekend of conference play.
The Lions chose the latter and pounded the visiting Alcorn State Braves 12-1 at The Pat. The win moves the Lions to 10-3 on the season and gives them a little mojo heading into their weekend Southland Conference series with Nicholls State. Jonathan Pace got the Lions on the board early as he ended the Lions 12 game drought of not hitting a home run, as he launched a three run shot to left center in the 1st inning. Ben Hernandez recorded 3 hits with two of them being doubles. Credit the Lion hitters for bouncing back with timely hits as they put up 12 runs on nine hits. Against Jackson State they could only scratch one run across on nine hits.
On the mound Buck Bernard picked up his first career win giving up one run on three hits to go along with three strikeouts.
