Lack of Timely Hits Costs Lions

In baseball hits are great.  But timely hits are the difference between winning and losing.  On Tuesday night the lack of timely hits was the main culprit in the Lions 3-1 defeat to Jackson State in Jackson, MS.  SLU (9-3) recorded nine hits on the night.  However, the Lions stranded 11 base runners, nine of them in scoring position.

Andro Cutura, getting his first career start, took the loss giving up two runs on three hits and fanning four Tigers. Jason Greenleaf and Dylan Hills were solid in relief as they combined to surrender one run on three hits with five strike outs. But the Lions bats could not get the big hit with runners on. SLU stranded at least two runners in each of the 5th through 8th innings, leaving the bases loaded in the 7th.

SLU will look to bounce back tonight as they face Alcorn State at The Pat.  First pitch is set for 6pm.
